Took ages to decide where to go as high tide was lunchtime and the wind was due to be strong, but then switch to NW which is hopeless for the south coast. A few people were saying they were headed for Camber, but it would have been just my luck for it to switch just as I arrived. In the end headed for Minster, and spent an hour in the car worrying that it was looking too westerly to be good there.

Pitched up to see lots of vans and most people rigged on 4.2m-5.0m. Rigged my smallest gear and had a blast for about an hour. Nice constant wind, no mud and the chop was ok, so had fun. Then the wind switched to NW and ramped up to insane levels. Everyone took refuge on the beach except one guy, so I cranked on some more downhaul and went to keep him company. I could just about manage 500yds before chickening out and putting in a gybe. On the way back in I thought I'd put a little chop hop in near the waters edge and basically got lofted to the extent that I thought I'd land on the beach - I felt like a kitesurfer! Called it a day after that, but I reckon I chose the right stretch of coast because all the south coasters had a very gusty time on 5m+
